IMPORTANT INFORMATION

To help your body heal more effectively, it’s important to take care of your immune system, as your overall health plays a major role in the skin’s recovery process after laser tattoo removal. If your immunity is weakened, your diet is poor, you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re under constant stress, dealing with hormonal issues, skin conditions, or similar problems – all these factors can affect the healing process, potentially slowing it down or making it more difficult. Keep in mind that the laser creates a superficial wound on the skin, and it takes time for epithelialization (the growth of new skin over the treated area) to occur. During the first few weeks, this new skin is very thin and sensitive and requires special care.

Health Condition

In some cases, the mentioned health conditions do not pose a problem – for example, if you have a runny nose due to allergies or low blood pressure. In such situations, we recommend taking an immune-boosting supplement and having a proper meal before the treatment to help maintain your blood sugar levels.

Certain conditions require prior consultation with your general practitioner or another qualified medical professional (for example, a dermatologist if you have specific skin conditions). If you have diabetes, epilepsy, heart or blood pressure issues, bloodborne diseases, or any skin problems (such as seborrhea or psoriasis), please consult a medical professional before booking an appointment for laser tattoo removal to determine whether the treatment is safe for you.

Be sure to inform us before the treatment if any of the above health conditions apply to you on the day of your appointment:

  • diabetes
  • epilepsy
  • hemophilia
  • persistent cough
  • skin conditions
  • heart problems
  • blood pressure issues
  • flu-like symptoms
  • pregnancy and/or breastfeeding
  • elevated temperature
  • breathing difficulties
  • fainting when having blood drawn
  • blood-borne diseases (HIV, hepatitis, etc.)
PREGNANT AND BREASTFEEDING WOMEN

Pregnant and breastfeeding women cannot undergo this procedure (no exceptions). During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the body goes through a large number of different changes. Although the likelihood of the laser causing any direct harm is extremely low, medical practice in Croatia tends to attribute even the slightest negative reaction to the treatment itself. Did you get a rash on your neck? That’s because of the tattoo on your leg.” Jokes aside, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the health of the mother and child comes first. The tattoo studio isn’t going anywhere, and you can live with your existing tattoo for a few more months until you stop breastfeeding.

If a client, for any reason, withholds information about their medical condition from Octopus staff before the tattoo removal procedure, Octopus Studio cannot be held responsible for any resulting health complications or prolonged healing of the treated area.

CONSUMPTION

Food

Please make sure to have a proper meal at least two hours before your appointment, especially if you have low blood pressure or are feeling anxious. Arriving on an empty stomach, or consuming nothing but coffee and cigarettes due to nerves, can cause low blood sugar combined with stress, which may make you feel unwell during or after the treatment.

If you are prone to fainting during blood draws, please let us know at the beginning of your appointment. Our staff is always ready to lift you up from the floor, but it would be far more pleasant for everyone if it didn’t come to that.

Medications

If you have taken any medication that dilates blood vessels within 24 hours before your appointment (such as Aspirin or anticoagulants), please inform our staff before the start of the treatment. A dilated circulatory system can lead to increased bleeding during the tattoo removal process.

If you are taking regular prescribed medication (for example, for diabetes or epilepsy), please consult your general practitioner before booking your appointment.

Alcohol and intoxicating substances

If you have consumed large amounts of alcohol and/or any intoxicating substances (drugs) within 24 hours before your appointment, please inform our staff, as alcohol dilates blood vessels and may cause increased swelling and bleeding during or after the treatment, which can negatively affect the healing process. Both alcohol and drugs also alter pain sensitivity, meaning the procedure itself may feel more painful than usual.

Octopus Tattoo Studio reserves the right to refuse service to anyone we suspect is under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

INDIVIDUAL FACTORS

The healing of the skin after laser tattoo removal can be influenced by specific individual factors such as:

Skin type

We are not all the same, and in some people healing may be much slower than in others, for no apparent reason.

Placement

The skin on certain parts of the body heals more slowly due to constant movement and stretching (such as the bends of the arms and legs). In these areas, the skin is thinner and more sensitive, making blisters on the skin’s surface possible. The skin on the palms, soles, and hands regenerates much faster than on other parts of the body, which is why tattoos in these areas tend to fade more quickly.

Activities

If you’re planning a seaside vacation, skiing trip, festival, or similar activity, keep in mind that these may affect your ability to properly care for the treated skin or your availability for the tattoo removal session. If the skin on the area being treated gets sunburned, you will need to wait until the inflammation subsides before continuing with the procedure.

Cosmetics

The ingredients in cosmetic products applied near a fresh wound can affect the healing process or cause irritation. Only use products specifically recommended for aftercare following laser tattoo removal. For at least 10 days prior to your appointment, avoid applying products containing glitter or self-tanning creams to the area being treated, as these substances are nearly impossible to remove completely from the skin and could end up inside the wound.

If you experience any healing complications (such as blistering, bruising, inflammation, severe redness, pimples, swelling, bleeding, pus discharge, etc.), please contact Octopus for a check-up as soon as possible.

If you are unable to come in person, you can send us photos of the treated area so we can assess the situation remotely. The photos should be sharp and taken up close. You can send them to info.octopustattoo@gmail.com.
