As of May 1st, 2025. we are introducing the rule of FINAL JEWELRY PURCHASE<\/strong><\/em>, which means that purchased jewelry cannot be later exchanged for new pieces nor refunded. The rule was introduced for hygienic and financial reasons. At Octopus, we do not sell worn jewelry because no one would be comfortable with the thought of wearing jewelry on a fresh tongue piercing that someone else has previously worn on a genital piercing, regardless of sterilization. Given the increased frequency of jewelry returns after 1-2 days of wearing with reasons such as ‘it’s too big after all<\/em>‘, ‘I don’t like the color<\/em>‘ and the like, we are no longer able to accept such exchanges and throw the returned jewelry in the trash.

If you plan to use purchased jewelry for piercing outside Octopus, be sure to inform your piercer that the jewelry needs to be sterilized.

If you have been pierced in Octopus in the last few years, after piercing you received a leaflet with aftercare instructions on which the piercer wrote down the dimensions of the jewelry (thickness, length\/diameter, thread). Please take a picture of it and have it on your mobile phone because it makes it easier for us and you to exchange and buy jewelry in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are not sure what dimensions you need, please book a jewelry change service<\/strong> through online booking<\/a><\/strong><\/em> and ask the piercer during your appointment to write down the correct sizes for you.
If you only wish to buy jewelry without having it inserted by a piercer in the studio, an appointment is not required. For hygienic reasons, please do not insert the jewelry yourself inside the studio (in the restroom or in front of the hallway mirror) \u2013 do it at home.
Octopus Piercing Studio is not responsible for jewelry loss<\/strong> in situations where the client inserts it independently and it falls out or gets lost. In such cases, we do not provide refunds or replacement jewelry<\/strong>.

If you are ordering through the webshop and you are not located in Zagreb, we recommend contacting us in advance by e-mail at webshop.octopus@gmail.com so that we can help you determine which dimensions are most suitable for you.

For assistance in choosing the right jewelry, it is important to know the type of jewelry<\/em><\/strong> and its <\/a>dimensions<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, i.e. how the jewelry is measured. It is also useful to know something about the materials <\/a><\/em><\/strong>from which the jewelry is made, as well as the name of the placement <\/a><\/em><\/strong>where it will be worn. With prolonged wear, jewelry may lose its shine and accumulate dead skin cells. To restore its original appearance, it needs to be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and polished<\/strong>. DOWNSIZING<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For most piercing placements, the initial jewelry must be longer to allow for possible swelling, easier cleaning, and proper healing. After a certain period, it is recommended to switch to shorter jewelry for practical and aesthetic reasons.
The best example is cartilage piercings. If jewelry of identical length to the thickness of the cartilage is placed right away, even minor swelling or pressure during sleep can cause the jewelry to sink into the tissue. That\u2019s why a few millimeters of extra length are left at the beginning.
After about 2 months, when the tissue starts to heal, we recommend inserting shorter jewelry to prevent the piercing from healing at an angle due to sleeping on it, and to avoid hair getting caught on it. In this case, the initial (longer) jewelry cannot be exchanged for shorter jewelry<\/strong>, for the previously mentioned hygienic reasons. Shorter jewelry needs to be bought, and the longer one remains with you – keep it in case of possible future problems with piercing, or you can bring it for sterilization and use it for a new piercing (jewelry needs to be brought at least 24 hours before the piercing appointment so that we have time to clean and sterilize it; sterilization is charged 15.00 eur).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For most piercing placements, the initial jewelry must be longer to allow for potential swelling and to make cleaning and healing easier.

If you sleep on the piercing during the period when you are wearing the initial (longer) jewelry, it can result in:
– jewelry migration (a change in the angle of the jewelry, i.e., healing at an angle)
– the formation of hypertrophic tissue around the piercing (\u201cpiercing bumps\u201d)
– increased swelling, bleeding, or pain<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The piercer will advise you when it is appropriate to switch to shorter jewelry.
Metal jewelry is not physically shortened; instead, you need to purchase a new (shorter) base.
